On the Road Again

Hey all -

The summer has quickly come to an end and I am heading for the Bangkok airport in a few hours. We got back to Vientiane on July 27 and had a nice few days with Lolo, Pascal and Bertrand before I left on the night train Tuesday evening. Tom will be staying with them in Vientiane, surrounded by different types of orchid species and lots of animals before he heads back home.

I arrived to Bangkok early on Wednesday morning and had a very good dinner at a traditional Middle Eastern place with our friend Tom that evening. Many women were wearing headscarves and we were talking so long that the owner had to ask us to leave. Next we went to a traditional Italian restaurant to have homemade gelatto and herbal tea, literally around the corner. This part of Bangkok is truly international.

I set off on my approximately 30 hour journey today about 1:30PM, and should arrive home in New Orleans about 10am on Friday morning. I am excited to get home, and very happy that my homecoming corresponds with Satchmo Summer Fest - quite possibly the best fest in the city of New Orleans.

More soon... but it will be much less exciting from New Orleans. Tom's due to arrive on August 13 or 14.
